HOLDERS Burnley will face Haslingden in the final of the Worsley Cup after the last four ties were completed yesterday.

The defending champions had professional Chris Holt to thank for their victory over Enfield as he plundered a magnificent century in a total of 209-7 off 50 overs at Turf Moor.

Holt (103) had support from Dan Pickup (48) and Jhangir Liaqat who hit 23 not out.

For Enfield, Lewis Wright was the main man with the ball as he took 3-39 including the wicket of Holt,

The total was always a daunting one for the visitors and they lost three quick wickets at the top of the order, including professional Diego Rosier, to slip to 35-3.

Adam Bracewell (44) and Tiarnan Hamill (37) set about repairing the damage but they got precious little support from elsewhere with Chris Bowness (16) the only other Enfield batsman in double figures as they were bowled out for 163 in 42.5 overs.

Liaqat shone with the ball as he bowled a tight spell of 4-17 off seven overs to help send Burnley back into the final.

There was a century in the other semi-final too with Haslingden opener Phil Hayes hitting a magnificent 106 not out as his side racked up 238-3 at Church.

Hayes was part of an opening stand of 63 with Graham Knowles (19) while Alex Coleman also batted well for his 48 not out.

Church were never really in the run chase with professional Zain Abbas first man out for four when he was bowled by Lewis McIntosh.

Wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals with Babar Naseem the chief thorn in the side as he finished with standout figures of 4-11 off nine overs.

Church’s Bilal Abbas and Josh Scully did show some resolve in a losing cause as they made 29 and 23 respectively.

But it wasn’t enough to stop them from suffering a heavy defeat as they were bowled out for 118 in 39 overs to lose the match by 120 runs.

The final, which will be a repeat of the 2013 showpiece, will be played on August 7 at Turf Moor.
