BEN Swindlells’ dismissal off the final ball saw former champions Baxenden involved in their second tie of the Houldsworth Ribblesdale League season against Oswaldtwistle Immanuel.

Swindlells, who shared a 37-run ninth wicket stand with Matthew Austin, made 40 before he was run out by Andrew Metcalf to end the home side innings on 189.

Mark Rishton was also in the runs as he made 58 for the home side.

Earlier, Oswaldtwistle made 189-7 with Matthew Roberts top scoring with 57 and Gary Sudworth claiming 3-70 and Swindlells 2-26.

Whalley made 190-6 before Gorton ran through the visitors batting order as they were dismissed for 114.

Cherry Tree’s six wickets victory over Brooksbottom leaves ‘Brox’ rock bottom and still without a victory.

Brooksbottom made 157 but Cherry Tree reached their target for the loss of just four wickets.

In the day’s other match, 72 from Fraser Phillips and 55 from Paul Gallagher helped Edenfield to 210-5 as they beat Brinscall, who replied with 163-9, by 47 runs
