FAMOUS faces from the world of cricket will descend on Rishton Cricket Club today as part of a special day at Blackburn Road.

A club select XI will take on a Lashings World XI which will include the likes of former England men Ryan Sidebottom, John Emburey and Chris Lewis.

The touring side has featured a who's who of cricket down the years with their latest outing coming at the Lancashire League club this afternoon.

Former Surrey and England bowler Martin Bicknell is set to captain the side with ex-Ireland international Niall O’Brien and Yasir Arafat and Faisal Iqbal, both once of Pakistan, also involved.

One-time Lancashire and England players Chris Schofield, Sajid Mahmood and Kabir Ali are also pencilled in to be part of a special event for the club.

There will be a Twenty20 game between the sides but that is just part of what is going on during the festivities.

Legendary cricket commentator Henry Blofeld, of the BBC's Test Match Special, will be in attendance to take guests through the match, while also providing entertainment during the day.

In the morning there will be coaching sessions for juniors run by both Rishton coaches and the Lashings players.

There will then be a three-course meal for 250 guests in a specially-erected marquee before the cricket action begins at 4pm.

The day concludes with evening entertainment coming from Karl Ribble.

Rishton are in Lancashire League Division Two action at home to Colne on Sunday.
