Anna Anderson has been selected to run for England at the Open British and Irish Junior Hill Running Championships in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on Sunday, October 8.

As we revealed three weeks ago, Rossendale Harrier Joe Kelly earned automatic selection in the Boy's Under 16 Team after winning the silver medal in the English Championships, but Pendle's Anna had to wait for the selector's to meet before her place was confirmed.

She cemented her spot in the Under 18 Girls Team following equal third in the six race English Champion-ships. She was in England's gold medal winning Under 16 Team last year.

Phil Bolton was named as the travelling reserve for the Under 16 Boys for the second successive year, and he will be able to run the race, but in his Rossendale Harriers colours. Phil was fourth in the English Championship and might have expected selection to the four boy squad, but at least he had better fortune than team-mate Emma Flanagan. She was most unlucky to be omitted after finishing equal third in the Under 16s Championship.

Heather Parker missed out in the under 14s as only two athletes are chosen for the younger Development Team, and she was fourth in the Championship.
