Blackburn Harriers senior track and field team have failed in their bid to win promotion from Northern League Division 2WC.
As we reported a fortnight ago, their play-off final at Cleckheaton was rained off, leaving promotion to Division One to be decided by a "paper match".
The result was decided by taking the two best performances by two different athletes in each event over the course of the regular league season.
The Harriers were awarded fifth spot of the eight teams involved with Wigan and Nestle Rowntree of York being promoted.
Blackburn logged the best performances in no less than eight events.
