HYNDBURN Athletic Club’s females have kept up their tremendous progress in the Mid Lancs Track and Field League.
In the third round of the league, competing on Hyndburn’s home soil at Wilson Playing Fields, the females came out on top by amassing 171 points.
They pipped nearest challenges Preston AC by just one point, while the females at Blackburn Harriers came in fourth with 102.5 points.
The bulk of Hyndburn’s points came from their U17 team, with Eve Parkinson (discus), Tara Procter (javelin) and Heidi Hamshere (hammer) all winning their respective events.
Marnie Shirtcliffe was among the U15 stand-out performers, her javelin throw of 29.65m pulling her well at least five metres clear of the field.
Hyndburn’s division one males had to settle for fourth place on the day with 136.5 points. Blackburn Harriers came in third, while their females were fourth in the top tier.
Pendle AC males continued their strong push for promotion from division two after chalking up a mammoth 148 points.
