The Lancashire Schools Cross Country Championship is on Saturday at Witton Park, Blackburn from 10.30am. The full timetable is: senior boys and senior girls 10.30am, junior girls 11.10am, junior boys 11.35am, inter girls noon, inter boys 12.25pm, Year 7 girls 12.50pm, Year 7 boys 1.10pm.

The Wadsworth Trog and Half Trog Fell Races are on Saturday from the Old Town Cricket Club at Hebden Bridge. The Half Trog is nine miles with 1,500 feet of climb and starts at 10am. The Full Trog starts 10 minutes later and is 20 miles including 4,000 feet of climb. For both races full body cover, map, whistle, compass and emergency food are mandatory. Every Saturday morning at 9am, there is a free to enter timed five kilometre run at Heaton Park in North Manchester. It starts at the Lakeside Café and you must pre-enter online by 6pm on at parkrun.org.uk/heaton. The Central Lancashire Half Marathon, in aid of Catforth village hall, is on Sunday at 10am. It follows a single lap course through picturesque local country lanes. This fixture is rearranged from January 3 and all the numbers issued previously are valid.

Radcliffe Athletic Club are the hosts for the Radcliffe 10-mile multi-terrain race on Sunday at 10.30am. There is a new course this year and the race HQ is at Radcliffe Cricket Club, Homer Street, Radcliffe. The Kendal Winter League continues on Sunday with the Fell End Clouds Race between Sedbergh and Kirkby Stephen. Juniors start at noon and seniors at 1pm. The flat course is accessible for all age groups and all levels of ability and you can enter on the day until 11am. Alexandra Park is on Russell Street, Moss Side, Manchester.

There is a saving to be had by entering the Winter Hill fell race in advance.

The race is on Sunday February 14 at 10am from Rivington High Barn. Race distance is 11 miles with 2,750 feet of climb. Enter by next Wednesday for £6 or you will have to pay £10 on the day. Cheques must be made out to T Varley and sent to 1 Kensington Drive, Horwich, Bolton BL6 6AE.
