THERE were victories for North West athletes Jenny Meadows and Helen Clitheroe as the Aviva Great Britain and Northern Ireland Team won the televised indoor international match at Kelvin Hall, Glasgow.
The Brits beat the USA by just three points with Germany, a Commonwealth select squad and Sweden following on.
Wigan Harrier Meadows, competing in her World Championship silver medal distance of 800m, took the lead after the first 200m to win in 2:02.53.
Clitheroe, who was recently seen winning the Ribble Valley 10K road race in Clitheroe, had a harder time in the 3000m.
The Preston Harrier was overtaken by the German Sabrina Mockenhaupt before re-passing in the last 50m to win in 9:05.87.
