Blackburn Harriers’ Track and Field captain Claude Peter-Thomas has won two gold and two silver medals in the British Masters’ Athletic Federation Championships at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.

In a competition exclusively for veteran athletes over 35, he won his gold medals with 11.68 seconds for the 100m and 12.43m in the triple jump.

Competing in the 45-49 age band for the first time in his career, the 45-year-old added two silvers with 16.01 seconds for the 110m hurdles and 6.23m in the long jump.

The former Blackburn Harrier Mike Hazlewood topped Claude’s medal haul with five in the throws, taking gold in the javelin with 46.12m at the age of 63.

There were silver medals in the shot and discus and bronze in the hammer and weight.

Leeroy Golding was just as busy with his five events yielding two medals. The 42-year old was second in the triple jump with 10.21m and third in the long jump with a best of 4.75m.

Hurdler Nick Rawcliffe from Hyndburn AC was second in the 400m hurdles in 65.12 seconds, and third in the high hurdles in 20.50 seconds, and at 41 was also a finalist in the 100m.

The youngest of our athletes at 38 was former Pendle man Michael Hunt who won his silver medal in the 1500m in 4:09.33.
