Sarah Ridehalgh of Accrington Road Runners was the winning woman at the Mizuno Liverpool half marathon on Sunday.

Despite all the leading runners, including Ridehalgh, being sent the wrong way near the start, she equalled her personal best to win by a full five minutes.

Meanwhile, Ben Fish, of Blackburn Harriers, claimed 10th spot in the Wilmslow Half in a rapid 1:07:00.

Three more locals cracked 1:15, Rossendale Harriers Andy Buttery and Jon Ferguson and Blackburn veteran Paul Guinan.

At the Coniston 14 miler, Chorley Harrier Jackie Redmayne was fifth woman in 1:33:47.

Three over 50s, Russ Corsini of Darwen Dashers, Joe Swarbrick from Red Rose Road Runners and Roger Brewster from Clayton, beat the 90 minute barrier.
