A 17-STRONG Chorley Athletic and Triathlon Club team finished sixth overall in the second Lancashire Sportshall League event of the season.

The club’s under-11s boys came third in their competition thanks to third-placed finishes for Martin Rimmer and Jack Hughes, fourth-placed finishes for Cai Smith and Harry Potts, along with good support from Joe Bowles, Matthew Brown, Joseph Chadwick and Jamie Rimmer.

Chorley’s U13s boys also finished third in their competition.

Ben Hughes enjoyed an excellent high jump win with a leap of 1.40m while Finlay Campbell showed some solid jumping on his return from injury.

The club’s U11s girls came seventh in their competition, led by a third-placed finish for Amelia Bowles, a sixth-placed finish for Zara Johnson, and personal-best performances from Lucy Douglas.

The trio were supported by first-time competitors Erin Boardman, Isobel Farron and Alice Singleton.

Holly Brookes, representing Chorley in the U15s girls competition, launched a personal best 7.15m in the shot put.

Christine Sweatman was in action for Chorley at the Greater Manchester Cross Country Championships in Leigh, where she finished as the 40th female in 35 minutes and 40 seconds.
