BURNLEY are confident of securing a deal for Everton winger Aaron Lennon.

The two clubs are close to an agreement over an undisclosed fee for the 30-year-old, with personal terms between the Clarets and Lennon agreed in principle.

Should a deal be struck between the two clubs then Lennon could have a medical at Burnley on Monday with a move completed early next week.

Burnley have rekindled their interest in the former England man having come close to landing him in the summer transfer window.

On that occasion a deal was in place between the two clubs before Lennon had a change of heart and opted to stay at Goodison Park.

But with Everton signing Theo Walcott from Arsenal for £20million this month Lennon is likely to find chances limited and the Toffees are ready to sanction his departure with just six months remaining on his contract.

And the two clubs are set to come to an agreement that would see Lennon become Burnley's second signing of the January transfer window, after landing Tottenham winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou on loan last week.
