TEAMS from across the North West took part in an annual multi faith football tournament.

The competition, organised by the Inter Madrassah Organisation (IMO), is now in its seventh year and continues to get bigger and bigger.

The IMO specialises increasing the participation of children of all backgrounds and faiths in sport –with the aim of building a safe and cohesive community. Teams competed in eight different age groups from year four to year 11 with a big turnout of clubs from across East Lancashire but also from Preston, Lancaster, Bolton, Oldham, Rochdale and Dewsbury. St Peter’s from Chorley were double winners on the day after winning the year four and year six age groups.

Blackburn United teams contested three of the finals with the year five being an all United showdown – with the Yellows beating the Reds.

The club was also runners-up in the year four and year six finals.

Two Burnley teams also went away from Blackburn’s Powerleague Soccerdome victorious – Danehouse winning year seven and Fazaldinoes the year 11 winners.

Preston teams won the remaining two age groups; Musa Crew crowned year eight champions while Team Mulla took the year 10 title.

Moulana Tayyab Sidat, the Principal Operations Director of IMO said: “I would like to thank all the volunteers who unselfishly devote themselves and support this event and make it successful every year. This would not be possible if we were not supported by dedicated volunteers, sponsors and all the Madrassah’s and Clubs who engage to make the event successful.”
