ILYAS Khan has stepped down as chairman of Accrington Stanley.

He announced his decision to shareholders at tonight's AGM and will be replaced by club president Peter Marsden.

Khan said: ""I cannot adequately express in words the feeling and passion I have for the club and for the town.

"I have been very honoured to have been able to help, and I am now simply pleased that I have fulfilled exactly those objectives that were set out three years ago.

"I am especially pleased for Peter and Rob Heys who have been magnificent in all they have done. I also wish the incoming directors every success. I now look forward to taking up my normal seat with the fans!"
