NELSON have begun the defence of their Pendle Junior Summer League title in fine style after winning the opening fixture.
The summer-long tournament – which first began in 1988 – is played as a six-team single stableford, with the best five cards taken from each team, and accumulated during each match over the season.
Nelson were the big winners in the opening fixture, scoring 209 points.
Colne (181) came second, ahead of Marsden Park (163), Ghyll (139) and Burnley (129), while Whalley could not field a team.
