WHO? Bacup judo player Groom, 23, is living and training in Kendal as he works towards what he hopes will be a medal-laden career in the sport.
IN THE GB TEAM? Groom has a slim chance of making the team for London – but his more realistic aim is to land a spot in the GB team in Rio in four years time.
In his weight category, he is up against one of the top 20 competitors in the world in Scotland’s Euan Burton.
MEDAL? If Groom was to make London 2012 he would have a huge task ahead – but his aim all along has been for Rio de Janeiro.
QUOTE: I live in a tin shed with a couple of friends on a construction site – it’s not ideal but any sacrifices are worth it as I want to give this my best shot.
