WHO? The 21-year-old from Brinscall is a former Southlands High School pupil. Has taken a year out of his studies to concentrate on his swimming.
IN THE GB TEAM? Bennett is there or therebouts. This week, he just missed out in the 100m backstroke at the Olympic trials but goes in the heats of his favoured 200m backstroke event today looking to book a place in tomorrow’s final.
MEDAL? Getting on to the London 2012 team would be like winning a gold medal itself. Should he get there, Bennett will try and reach the final.
Quote: I have had a lot of success throughout my career, winning trophies and medals, but the Olympics is what I have always wanted. The qualifying time should be 1.59.
