ACCRINGTON Stanley manager John Coleman has mounted an early season play-off push.

Almost six months after the Reds clinched promotion back to the Football League, boss Coleman has urged his players to aim for a top seven spot, and insists there is no time like the present to set their sights.

"We have to go and kick on up to Christmas and give ourselves a healthy position to start the New Year," said Coleman.

"We started this year on top (of the Conference). Doing that (in League Two) is a long way, away at the moment but our aspirations have got to be the play-offs."

Andy Mangan's injury time winner against high-flying Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday was the perfect fillip going into this weekend's home game against second placed Swindon Town.

And, after Andy Todd struck late to seal their previous home win over Boston United, Coleman is pleased with the way the Fraser Eagle Stadium is fast becoming a fortress.

"That's three home wins on the spin now and you can't ask for more than that," the Reds boss said.

"We've got a massive game next week and we won't rest on our laurels.

"We've got to instil a winning mentality and maybe work on being a bit better in possession because maybe that was our one downfall for part of the second half on Saturday.

"But we have to take the positives from the game. To win against a team who have been flying away from home is a big boost for us and it's testament to the lads that they kept going right to the death.

"Myself, Jimmy Bell and Andy Dibble have instilled that in them and we'll continue to play like that."

Coleman added that he was pleased with the way his squad was adapting and progressing since clinching promotion from the Conference in April.

"There are a few players who are pushing to try to get in the team. They are all in the squad. There are a few lads who haven't featured yet but if anyone gets their chance it's there for them to take it," he said.

"We've got a big squad. We're certainly not short of numbers or options."

Coleman is also delighted with the contribution of his players - particularly in the goals for column with leading scorer Gary Roberts, Paul Mullin, Rommy Boco, Andy Todd, Ian Craney, Peter Cavanagh and Michael Welch and now Andy Mangan all grabbing the goals so far this term.

"You don't want to be reliant on individuals because if anything happens to them you'll struggle to score goals.

"Since I've been at Accrington we've shared the workload round in terms of goals and if that continues, great. But we're just concerned with winning games."
