Bacup manager Brent Peters' plans to keep the rebels at bay were undone by a wicked own goal at Gigg Lane.
Despite having to defend for long periods in the first half, the game plan was working and they kept United out.
But the home side landed a sucker punch just after the re-start when Stuart Rudd put the ball across the box and Simon Myrescough sliced the ball into his own goal in an attempt to clear.
And they added two more late on. Rudd scored from a corner and then Liam Coyne turned home a corner.
