TWO-GOAL hero Andy Gray wants West Brom target Steve Cotterill to stay put at Turf Moor.

Burnley boss Cotterill is the bookmakers' favourite to succeed Bryan Robson and land the vacant managerial position at The Hawthorns.

Reports have suggested that yesterday's 4-1 thrashing of Norwich could be Cotterill's last game in charge of the Clarets.

But striker Gray, who bagged a stuuning brace at Carrow Road, does not want to see Cotterill moving to pastures new.

"Everything is just hearsay," said Gray. "We just need to concentrate on the game in hand and we showed that.

"Nobody wants the gaffer to go. We've got a really tight group here and he's the reason behind that.

"We have not got the biggest squad, but sometimes that works in our favour. There's no cliques here and it's the manager that has put that together. But it is speculation."

Gray took his Championship tally to six goals this season after notching two in East Anglia yesterday.

The Clarets swept Norwich aside emphatically, with midfielders James O'Connor and Alan Mahon also hitting the scoresheet.

Scotland international Gray was delighted with his contribution and could have netted a hat-trick had Gifton Noel-Williams squared to the 28-year-old for a tap-in finish.

But Gray is happier to see the Clarets chalk up another three points.

"It was a good performance. In the first-half, we hit the post and had a couple of chances. It could have been more really.

"I can't argue with two goals. If Gifton had passed to me, you never know. As a striker you want to score goals, so I can't begrudge him for having a go at goal.

"Three points was the most important thing and it was a convincing victory as well."
