EDDIE Howe is delaying his journey to the north east to watch the Clarets in FA Youth Cup action tonight, and he hopes fans will do the same.

The Burnley boss will be at Turf Moor, where Burnley’s youth team will look to extend their winning run to 13 games when they take on Ipswich Town in the fourth round (kick-off 7pm).

And Howe, who will set off for Middlesbrough after the game, would love to see bumper crowd cheering on their young stars.

“Burnley fans are fantastic no matter what team is playing, they will go and support the team, so I’m sure there’ll be a good crowd on and hopefully a good atmosphere,” he said.

“I’ll be there. I think it’s important that I’m there. I love watching the youth team, I think we’ve got some really good players in there at the moment – five or six really talented young players.

“Hopefully a few of them will come through and make the first team because I really believe they’ve got the potential to do that.

“Steve Hewitt’s already been rewarded with a long-term contract, and there are other players in there as well who we’ve got high hopes for.”

The young Clarets are firing on all fronts, having won all 12 league and cup games since their last defeat on September 24.

“It is a really good achievement. It is all about players’ development, not really about results – making sure that we get the players through. But I think they’re combining both at the moment. They’re getting results and improving as players.

“It’s important they play a certain way. Pash and Faz make sure that happens. They’re excellent coaches and excellent people. They’ve done really well to construct the team that they have.

“Hopefully they can show what a good team they are tonight and progress.

“I’m looking forward to it.”

Admission costs £4 for adults and £2 for concessions. The game is not free for season ticket holders.
