Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes has intimated that he could offer Tugay a new contract at the end of the season - if he continues in the same rich vein of form.
"We've not discussed extensions of contracts or whatever but as the season progresses, as we hope it will do, and Tugay's an influence, absolutely we would look again," Hughes said of the the 36-year-old.
"In the two European games he's been absolutely superb.
"In fairness to him, he was great against Middlesbrough as well.
"He's belying his years and you can see the enjoyment in his face."
