TEENAGER Jayden Stockley has been tipped to push for a place in the Bournemouth team after being recalled from his loan spell at Accrington Stanley.

Stanley had been keen to extend Stockley’s temporary stay at the Crown Ground after the striker scored three goals in six starts following his arrival in November.

But discussions between both clubs and the player ended with Stockley returning to the south coast this week following the expiry of the second month of his loan after Friday’s match at Burton Albion, when he was named on the bench.

The 18-year-old could technically still return to Stanley this season should Bournemouth decide he is unlikely to get first-team football at Dean Court, but Cherries boss Lee Bradbury has indicated that Stockley is now determined to challenge for a place at his parent club.

“He has done two months up there and feels he has sharpened himself up,” said Bradbury.

“He wants to come back and train with us and see where we go.

“He scored three goals in six starts and I think he has got out of it what he wanted.

“He wanted to go up there and get match fitness, some sharpness and some goals, and then come back and try to fight for a place here, so I think it is great.”
