STEVE Cotterill insists his Clarets side will focus on the job in hand tomorrow and ignore distractions surrounding under-fire Nigel Worthington.

The Clarets make the long journey to Carrow Road aiming to preserve their unbeaten Championship away record.

Hostile supporter demonstrations are expected before kick-off against Canaries boss Worthington, who earlier this week was handed an ultimatum by club owners Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones to improve results after slumping 3-1 at Plymouth.

But Burnley manager Cotterill is not intent on letting his side get caught up in the furore circling the East Anglian club.

Cotterill said: "We have heard and read about everything that has gone on at Norwich this week, but that is nothing to do with us and it won't make any difference tomorrow.

"The first header, first tackle and first race will be exactly the same as it was before anything else went on. We will just concentrate on our own jobs and leave other people to their own business.

"We are just looking forward to the game and looking forward to putting on a good performance."

The Clarets will look to zone in on a swift return to the Championship's top six after slipping to a 3-2 home defeat against Southampton last weekend.

Cotterill has been pleased with Burnley's displays this term, which have come from a settled side largely free of injuries.

Engine room duo Micah Hyde and James O'Connor - poised to start in central midfield for the sixth successive time - are at present flourishing as a partnership.

While O'Connor and Hyde are working well in tandem, Cotterill wants to see partnerships blossoming throughout his team.

"They look as if they enjoy playing with each other, which is important," explained Cotterill.

"I don't know if you can say one's one type and one's the other. They do a little bit of both.

"They are both energetic and honest lads.

"I don't know whether they compliment each other or they may be the same.

"But we want to get partnerships all over the pitch and that's important, from our strikers, central midfield players and our central defenders."

On having a settled side, Cotterill added: "It's of benefit to the lads, because we are not chopping and changing every five minutes."

Wide men Wade Elliott and Steve Jones have also earned high praise for recent performances attacking the flanks.

Cotterill said: "I've been pleased with everybody as I have with any certain individuals.

"Wade and Steve Jones have been part of a team to to be honest. It's been all-round good team play.

"I don't think there's been anyone that I would single out over the last few weeks. They've all been part of a good team work ethic. They're all fit, strong and happy."

In front of live television cameras tomorrow, Cotterill is hoping the Clarets do themselves justice and maintain what he describes as a good start to the campaign.

He said: "We just need to carry on with the performances we have produced home and away this season.

"We could have been second going into the game which would have been a lot better for us. But I'm reasonably happy.

"It's been a good start, but it could have been a very good start. We know that, even the games that we've lost. There's no way we should have lost those games."

"A lot of people say the table does not change much, but I don't know about that. You have to carry on. Nobody has won the league after 10 games. It's only the start."
