BACUP manager Brent Peters said he would be treating big spending, table-topping FC United the same as any other team when they travel to Gigg Lane tomorrow.

And he admitted playing in front of almost 3000 supporters will act as a catalyst for his side who will be hoping to do what no other team has done in nine matches so far this season and beat the rebel Manchester outfit.

But Peters is looking to the wins achieved by Nelson and Great Harwood against FC United last season as inspiration.

He said: "To me, to be fair, FC United are just another team, and I think people are getting a bit carried away. They are nothing to do with Manchester United, the nearest link is the fans support both teams.

"I'm a Manchester United fan as well but on Saturday that'll be the only thing we have in common.

"We've got experienced guys in the squad who have played in front of big crowds before although I admit it'll be a big occasion for some of the younger players.

"But I think with that amount of people watching, the adrenaline will get them through."

Bacup have been boosted by the signing of Simon Myrescough, who played for Salford City last season and can operate virtually anywhere on the park.

Kieran Fletcher is back from suspension although Carl Rezia starts his ban along with goalkeeper Billy Carrington.
