ACCRINGTON Stanley manager John Coleman admits he has no qualms about taking gambles if it means getting more points.

The Reds go into tomorrow's home game against high-flying Wycombe on the back of a double dose of 2-2 draws.

But Coleman confessed that, mathematically, he would have preferred to have won one and lost one in order to get a better return.

"I would like to have had a couple more points and be cemented a little bit higher up the table," Coleman said.

"Three or four points can catapult you a lot of places up, and a lot of places down if you don't get them.

"Rochdale moved up about eight places on Wednesday night by virtue of one win.

"But everyone's scrapping for the same points.

"Two away draws won't be so bad if we can wrap things up with a win after that.

"I'm prepared to sacrifice a point to try to win three.

"You don't have to be a mathematical genius to work out one win and one defeat is better than two draws.

"If you do that over the course of the season you will be up there. Draws will anchor you down.

"Wins are everything in football, in my eyes."

But Coleman knows that Wycombe will provide a stern test for his players.

"They are a well organised and good footballing side.

"They're doing well in the league and will probably come to us thinking they can beat us," he said.

"But we generally do better against teams higher up in the league and hopefully that will be the case tomorrow."
