BURNLEY Football Club has launched a new centre which uses sport to encourage youngsters to get involved in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
The club's leisure and community team is looking for people aged between 14 to 25 years to get involved in the initiative at Turf Moor - the first award centre of its kind in the North West.
At an open day to launch the event yesterday, applicants found out more about what was involved and discovered how they can assist with activities on a match days at Turf Moor.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme enables youngsters to discover new talents and interests, make new friends and gain greater self confidence.
Burnley FC chief executive Dave Edmundson said: "This is a new step for Burnley FC's leisure and community programme and will result in many young people engaging with the football club to join the Duke of Edinburgh Award courses that are recognised throughout the world."
