STAFF redundancies could be made at Carl Fogarty's racing outfit within the next two weeks.

Foggy Petronas has been unable to secure new sponsorship for next season, forcing Fogarty's team to into drastic cut backs.

The final round of the World Superbikes championship takes place at Magny Cours in less than two weeks, with the race signalling the end of Petronas' multi-million investment in the Burton-on-Trent-based team.

Foggy staff have already received a letter alerting them of the possibility of redundancies.

Fogarty has spent the past few months searching for a new sponsor, with Ducati - who he won four world titles with - one of the teams discussing a deal.

Neil Bramwell, press officer for Foggy Petronas, said: "The team have received a letter saying they may be made redundant at the end of the season. We're receiving money from Petronas until the end of the season and with all of it allocated to racing there isn't the funding to keep the team going when there is nothing to do.

"It's a business decision and a legal formality that we have to notify our staff and that this could happen.

"Even if we sign a sponsor today, we'd still have to negotiate the deal and there would be a delay.

"It's tough and I understand why some of the guys are down, but we're not giving up. We've still got lines of enquiry open with five sponsors, but until we have the deal confirmed we can't plan next year."
