BURNLEY Football Club is teaming up with youngsters and adults to kick racism out of football with two events.

The poster competition for schools and the five-a-side contests aim to foster anti-racist attitudes among Clarets supporters.

The Leisure and Community Programme, the club's charity arm is working with the Clarets Trust, a supporters' group, on the Kick It Out' campaign which runs from October 14-28.

Karen Moorhouse, marketing manager for Burnley Football Club's Leisure and Community Programme, said: "We hope to encourage youngsters in the Burnley and Pendle area to reject racist attitudes and to bring local communities closer together through improved understanding.

"As part of this we are holding a poster competition aimed at promoting an anti-racism message, this can be general or to do with the world of sport, specifically football."

The five-a-sides will feature an adult competition on October 15 and a youngsters event, probably the next week, although a date is yet to be confirmed.

There are two age ranges for the poster competition; under 11s and 11-16 and organisers hope each school will run its own competition with all entries being submitted to the Clarets Trust.

A panel representing the Clarets Trust, Burnley Express and Burnley Football Club will judge all entries received.

It is hoped that all entries will be on display around Turf Moor for the remainder of the 2006/7 season and the winning entry will be featured in a matchday programme.

All entries should be sent to Burnley Football Club Leisure & Community Programme, Turf Moor, Harry Potts Way, Burnley, Lancashire, BB10 4BX by 5pm on Tuesday, October 17.
