DAVID Dunn insists skipper Chris Samba will always give everything for Blackburn Rovers – with Venky’s prepared to fight tooth and nail to keep hold of their skipper.

Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their efforts to land the giant defender, although no formal bid is yet understood to have been lodged, but Rovers remain determined to keep their prized asset.

Spurs’ recent enquiries are believed to have included the possibility of a cash plus player deal but a source close to the owners has told the Lancashire Telegraph Samba is still a big part of Rovers’ plans.

Having already lost Phil Jones to Manchester United this summer, Venky’s are determined to keep the rest of their key players at Ewood Park - and are prepared to play hardball with Spurs and any other potential suitors.

It is understood the Londoners would have to increase their valuation of the defender significantly to even stand a chance of prising Samba away from Ewood – although the offer of some high class players in exchange could ease current resistance.

Any potential deal though is still believed to be a long way off, with Venky’s expecting to keep the defender as they bid to build for the future.

Samba himself has stated his desire to one day play Champions League football but, with the speculation about his future showing no signs of going away, team mate Dunn has no concerns about his continued commitment.

Dunn said: “The good thing with Chrissy is every time he goes on the pitch for us he gives 100 per cent for us.

“I don’t really read what is said in the papers and what goes on off the pitch doesn’t really concern us as long as he turns up on the Saturday and gives his all for the club then that is all we can ask for.

“The rest is in the club’s and the individuals hands.”
