WINGER Keith Treacy is set to complete a move to Turf Moor today after Burnley finally agreed a fee with their Lancashire rivals Preston at the fourth time of asking.

The Republic of Ireland international was pulled out of Preston’s friendly with Wigan yesterday after the Deepdale club accepted the latest undisclosed offer for the 22-year-old.

The player has still to agree personal terms with Burnley, but once they are ironed out, the signing is expected to be announced later today.

Preston chairman Maurice Lindsay said: “I have personally turned down three offers from Burnley for Keith but their final offer had to be accepted.

“The offer for Keith, which was all the cash upfront, was one that we could not refuse.”

Lindsay added: “Burnley’s offer (yesterday) was conditional upon an immediate agreement which meant that Keith would be unable to play (against Wigan).

“I suppose they were making sure that he avoided any injury. Either way, we had no option.”

Treacy will be Eddie Howe’s first permanent signing of the summer.

It is possible there could be up to two further signings at Turf Moor before the 2011/12 campaign begins with the visit of Watford on Saturday.

“We’re actively looking,” said Howe.

“Hopefully we’ll be active early next week and bring some new players in because we are very thin on the ground in terms of numbers.

“We’ve lost seven and brought two in so hopefully we can add to the ins next week.”

Howe has been in the market for a winger all summer but the search has been stepped up since losing Chris Eagles to Bolton Wanderers last week.
