RAMSBOTTOM second team captain Chris Wood is relishing tomorrow’s Lancashire Telegraph Trophy final at Todmorden – and says games like the Centre Vale showpiece are the reason to play cricket.

Wood will lead his men into battle with Stuart Priestley’s Todmorden in the game, which starts at 12.30pm, and is expecting a close encounter in front of a good crowd.

“We are taking a bus over and the fans are most welcome because it is always a good atmosphere at Todmorden,” said Wood.

“And it will be a good day, one to enjoy for everyone.

“If you play cricket you want to play in finals and we are all looking forward to it.”

Ramsbottom’s first team are the reigning Lancashire League champions and are also in the final of the Worsley Cup next weekend but Wood is happy that all eyes will be on his charges tomorrow.

“It is going to be nice to have a bit of the limelight for a change,” he said.

“Quite rightly people focus on the first team so everyone can enjoy it.”
