RIBBLESDALE League leaders Read look to take advantage of struggling Settle tomorrow as they look to stay out in front of the chasing pack in what is shaping up to be one of the tightest title races in years.

Warren Eastham’s men hit the summit last weekend as they won both their games and hold a one point lead over Barnoldswick with Baxenden three points off the top.

And Read, who are in the Ramsbottom Cup final against Ribblesdale Wanderers on Sunday, want to kick start a weekend of celebration with a win against the Yorkshiremen.

Barnoldswick head to New Lane for their game with Oswaldtwistle and are at full strength for the game, while Baxenden face a trip to reigning champions Clitheroe, who are now in mid-table after their dreadful start to the season.

Stephen Brown will captain Salesbury in the absence of Jason Rawson as the Red Caps face the tough task of tackling in-form Whalley at Station Road.

The clash pits two of the league’s star performing professionals into battle as Whalley’s Kamran Younas looks to follow up last weekend’s demolition of Barnoldswick goes head-to-head with Salesbury’s Sri Lankan Susantha Pradeep.

Padiham, whose top five hopes were hit hard by last weekend’s double defeat head to The Applegarth to face an Earby side who are still without Stephen Hipgrave, who is to have an operation on his injured shoulder, while Great Harwood welcome back Russell Whalley for their clash with Cherry Tree.

Ian Britcliffe’s Ribblesdale Wanderers aim to prepare for their Ramsbottom Cup final with a solid display at Greg Smithson’s Edenfield.
