ACCRINGTON Stanley tonight settled for a goalless draw in a feisty battle at non-league Marine.
It was the fourth clean sheet for John Coleman’s men in five pre-season outings, but the first time Stanley have failed to hit the scoresheet.
Manager Coleman fielded eight trialists at the Arriva Stadium and it was one of those looking to impress, Mike Ordish, who had the first real opportunity to open the scoring, his early shot being tipped over the bar.
There proved to be few clear-cut chances in a first half that did, however, see plenty of flying tackles that upset Coleman, who was ordered from his dugout just before the interval.
Marine were the brighter in the opening stages of the second half, but again tempers spilled over, with the referee producing a number of yellow cards.
Sub Charlie Barnett saw a late effort go straight into the palms of the Marine goalkeeper.
