READ ace Mohammed Jamal says he didn’t go out with the intention of smashing the club’s batting record – but relished every moment of his stunning 157 not out in a Twenty20 match.

The 21-year-old former Burnley ace smashed the gigantic score from just 83 balls in a Twenty20 group match with Baxenden.

In his one hour and five-minute knock, Jamil faced just 83 balls and plundered 11 fours and 13 sixes.

And he beamed: “I didn’t go in with a plan as such but once I got past a certain mark I carried on.

“I was pretty nervous on 99 and had four dot balls on the trot but carried on after that.”

The score was easily better than his previous best of 137 but it wasn’t enough to stop his side going down to Baxenden.

They managed to chase down 236 to win.
