Eddie Howe highlighted the performance of fit-again front man Martin Paterson in the 4-2 friendly win at Altrincham.
Paterson is hoping to put the injury nightmares of the last two seasons behind him and scored to give the Clarets a 3-0 half-time lead.
“He runs off the line, he runs in behind to really stretch defences, which is quite rare to see these days,” said the Clarets chief.
“I thought he showed a great attitude to the game.
“He scored a goal, which is great to see, and touch wood came through it unscathed and that’s a real positive for us.”
