Blackburn Rovers owners have vowed ‘we are here to stay’ as the club moved quickly to deny growing rumours they were up for sale again.

Sections of Rovers fans have become increasingly concerned by reports on the internet that Venky’s had grown disillusioned with their first foray into football ownership forcing the club to firmly set the record straight.

The Indian poultry giants bought Rovers from the Walker Trust back in November 2010 and, having outlined their ambitious plans for the future on numerous occasions, remain fully committed to taking the club forward and achieving their vision.

They have made a healthy transfer fund available to Kean for summer squad strengthening and, as they close in on Monaco defender Cedric Mongongo, look forward to their first full season in charge.

A club statement to the Lancashire Telegraph, read: “Blackburn Rovers football club would like to assure all supporters that the owners (Venky’s) remain as passionate and committed to the club as ever.

“The owners vehemently refute any suggestions to the contrary and are continuing to work hard to push the club forward through a strategy based around systematic growth.”

Rovers initially opted to ignore the speculation about their uncertain future but, as the rumour about them being set to sell up grew in strength, have moved decisively to put an end to the talk once and for all.

Just the other day co-owner Balaji Rao spoke about how he wanted Venky’s control of the club to be a “lifetime association” and even told Indian press that 17-year-old son would join the board once he reached the age of 21.

Meanwhile Rovers boss Steve Kean will be hoping to speak to Monaco defender Cedric Mongongu early next week as the club look to secure their first signing of the summer.

As revealed in the Lancashire Telegraph on Thursday, Rovers have already made an official approach for the player with Monaco expected to accept a bid in the region of £2.5million.

Personal terms though have yet to be discussed and Kean will hope to start persuading Mongongo Ewood Park is the right place for him upon his return from a pre-season training camp in Austria this week.

No bids have been received for midfielder Steven Nzonzi despite reports in the national media that Borussia Dortmund and Villarreal were interested in the player.

The Lancashire Telegraph also understands Rovers are on the hunt for a new club doctor with Dr Phil Batty set to join Manchester City this summer.
