Blackburn Rovers’ owner Anuradha Desai has ruled Rovers out of the running for Spurs striker Robbie Keane and insisted the club aren’t just going for ‘big name signings’.

It is understood boss Kean is hoping to add three to four new players this summer and Mrs Desai remains confident their efforts will prove fruitful in the next few weeks.

She said: “We are in search of some good strikers and defenders and that will be finalised in the next two weeks. We are not running behind big names. Our selection would be a proper mix of young talent and senior players.”

Striker Benjani is still expected to sign a one-year contract with Rovers, despite not travelling with the squad to Austria for their pre-season training camp on Sunday.
