WHAT a season! Off the pitch I have never attended as many meetings about Stanley in my life.

The fact that once again as a club we have come through the dark days is testament to a lot of hard work by people behind the scenes and a lot of cold cash from Ilyas and Idris Khan. Our new owners follow in a long line of hard working folk that have resurrected our great club.

That line was started by Jack Barrett and perhaps the highlight of the season should be his freeman of the borough award, for without Jack there would be no Stanley as we know it today.

The real highlight of the season for me has to be the new contracts that will keep our management duo at the Crown for the foreseeable future.

The team they have assembled this season has produced the best football ever played by a Stanley team and there is a lot more to come.

With Ilyas at the helm and John and Jimmy in the middle of a 20-year purple patch, the future looks bright.

Of course it may have looked brighter if the real Accrington Stanley had turned up at Stevenage.

The lads looked out of sorts but 2-0 is not an impossible hurdle and with the Crown Ground full, Stevenage will not know what hit them when the Ultras let them know what real fans sound like.

I believe!
