BURNLEY and Black-burn Bulls renew rivalries next week when they clash in the Central Venue Basket-ball League U16s play-off final.

While Burnley hold an undefeated advantage in their head-to-heads this season, coach Giulio Minnozi is taking nothing for granted.

“We won the league and if we play well we are the superior team,” said Minozzi ahead of the final at Shuttleworth College next Wednesday. “So far this season, we haven’t lost to Blackburn Bulls but they have been close games.

“So you never know.”

Burnley will be looking to complete the double over Blackburn teams in the play-offs having beaten Blackburn Ballers in the semi finals.

In a cagey opening quarter with both defences on top of their game, Burnley led 14-7 at the end of the period.

In the second quarter Jordan Green was in inspired form for Burnley with the Khan brothers Jordan and Aron scoring freely while Sam Postlethwaite weighed in with 10 points to open up a 38-21 lead.

In a frantic second half to the game, the Ballers continued to press Burnley but trailed 64-43 with one quarter remaining.

Both teams tired in the final period with Burnley running out 83-65 winners.

The second semi final between Blackburn Bulls and Blackpool was a lot closer affair – althought the Bulls always held a narrow advantage.

The Blackburn side led 16-15 at the end of the first quarter and again held a point lead at the half way stage, 26-25.

The match began to get sloppy in the second half with both sides making mistakes.

But Tom Morgan was beginning to run the show for the Bulls who led 38-36 at the end of the period.

And the Bulls managed to hold off their more experienced rivals in the final quarter to secure a fine 49-45 win to reach the final.
