COLNE bounced back from two straight defeats to exact revenge over a Maine Road side who had beaten them 4-1 just a fortnight ago.

Manager Nigel Coates made changes to the side that had lost 5-2 at Ramsbottom in midweek with keeper Gavin King making his debut.

The Reds started brightly with Sam Morris and Mark Threlfall going close before Maine Road took a seventh minute lead through Alistair Holden. James Crorken came close to equalising after good work by Morris and Martin Broderick but they were level in the 17th minute when Threlfall rose to head home Danny Gleave’s floated cross.

Colne dominated from there on in and took a deserved lead in the 58th minute when Broderick released Danny Boyle who raced clear before shooting into the top corner.
