ANDREW Metcalfe won his East Lancs tussle with the previously unbeaten Lee Cox to be crowned North West Thai boxing champion.
Metcalfe, 22, a member of the Darwen Thai Boxing Club was up against the vastly experience holder Lee Cox, some 24 years his senior.
Cox, who fights out of the Hakuda Gym in Burnley returned from a seven year exile to win the 72kg crown.
However, that was wrestled from him by his younger opponent following a third round stoppage.
It was a night to remember for the Darwen club as John Leeming, 21, won the 69kg England title while Isaac Taylor, 12, son of head coach John, was named junior NW champion at 40kg.
There were also victories for Anthony McIntyre, Jake Morgan and Ashley Oldham.
