STEVE Kean believes Blackburn Rovers' 1-1 draw at home to Birmingham City could yet turn out to be a good point - even though he was disappointed his side could not secure all three points.

Rovers were unable to find a winner after Junior Hoilett cancelled out Lee Bowyer's goal for the visitors.

But Kean was pleased to see Rovers move a point further away from the relegation zone as West Ham, Wolves and Wigan all lost - even if he really wanted victory in this afternoon's Ewood Park clash.

Kean said: "We came from behind again and sometimes you've got to respect a point, even though we set out to get all three.

"The atmosphere in the dressing room was a little bit flat because we were focused on getting all three but it's probably one where you think the day after it's been a good point.

"If all the teams around you get positive results and you only get a point, then you're massively disappointed.

"I think if you get a point at home, you've obviously got to look after your own points so you're still disappointed.

"But if you look at everybody else round about you, we're probably a little bit better off than before we started.

"It's little steps we're taking and we wanted to take a bit of a leap today.

"Birmingham probably shaded the first half and never let us get into any type of rhythm.

"But I thought we did better second half."

Kean confirmed after the match that Junior Hoilett was withdrawn because of a tight hamstring, while Ryan Nelsen went off in the first half with a pre-existing knee injury.
