JACK Cork is hoping to be made available for Burnley’s crunch weekend clash at Leicester if given the all-clear by cardiac specialists at world-renowned Harley Street.

The 21-year-old loanee has been with parent club Chelsea since suffering from heart palpitations during England’s Under 21 friendly against Iceland on March 28.

It is understood that medical staff at the Premier League club are satisfied with the midfielder’s health after undergoing routine cardiac checks.

But Cork won’t return to East Lancashire until he passes a final assessment at Harley Street in London.

Yesterday, cardiologists began a 24-hour monitoring of Cork’s heart-rate and will work him intensively on a treadmill today.

If he passes the rigourous test with flying colours, it is then expected that Cork will link up with the Clarets tomorrow, in preparation for Saturday’s Championship clash at the Walkers Stadium.

Burnley manager Eddie Howe has been in constant contact with Chelsea over the past week and is hopeful that his young midfielder will be ready and fit for battle, as his side bid to end a miserable four-game winless streak that has dented their play-off aspirations.

Cork’s heart-rate during the Under 21 international friendly at Deepdale last week was significantly beyond the levels that would normally be expected, and it is understood to be the first time that the Clarets ace had suffered such ailments.

At the time, he was withdrawn from the match at half-time and hospitalised as a precaution.

He then missed Burnley’s Championship defeat at home to Ipswich on Saturday while taking a week-long break from any physical activity.
