BUOYANT Brent Peters is going all out for cup glory as his Bacup Borough outfit face high-flying Winsford in their ‘last chance’ of glory this season.

Borough welcome the Cheshire set to West View tomorrow in the third round of the Vodkat League Challenge Cup – and the manager is determined to see his men put on a big show.

With the cup corker in mind, Peter rested eight of his senior men for Wednesday’s 3-0 loss at home to Runcorn Linnets.

And the manager is adamant he made the right decision ahead of what is sure to be a good clash between two footballing sides as second-placed Winsford arrive in East Lancashire.

“Our only realistic chance of winning any silverware is the League Challenge Cup,” he said.

“Winsford have had the luxury of not having had a midweek game and will come to us fresh and ready to go. We could not afford that same luxury having to play on Wednesday.

“We had several players not 100 per cent fit and playing two games per week could put them out for several games – and that is something we need to avoid.

“It was important to give my lads the best chance to be injury free, fresh and ready to go against Winsford as I am sure they will be for us.

“The midweek changes were made in the best interest of Bacup Borough Football Club.“
