Morne van Wyk makes way for AB de Villiers in the South African line-up.
Quicks Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel also return with Lonwabo Tsotsobe and Wayne Parnell spending time on the sidelines.
South Africa have former Lancashire League professionals Robin Petersen and Francois du Plessis in their side, while ex-Church spinner Luke Woodcock and former Rawtenstall pro Nathan McCullum play for the Kiwis.
Woodcock is one of three spinners picked by the Black Caps.
