RUBEN Rochina gave Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean some food for thought this evening after opening his competitive account for the club.

The former Barcelona striker had scored in a behind closed doors friendly against Wrexham previously, but fired the equaliser for the reserves in tonight's 2-1 win over Wolves as he continued his impressive start to life in England.

The 19-year-old played just behind lone striker Nikola Kalinic and the pair linked well for his 56th minute strike, a low shot into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

Croatian striker Kalinic netted the winner with five minutes remaining as he converted Jackson Ramm's cross from the right.

Rovers started the first half brightly with Rochina looking lively just behind lone striker Nikola Kalinic.

Josh Morris almost gave the visitors the lead with a shot that was curled over the bar, before Kalinic headed Jackson Ramm's right wing cross wide.

Wolves gradually grew into the game and were inches away from the lead when defender Dan Batth headed against the post on the half hour mark.

Wolves were ahead just a couple of minutes later as Michael Kightly continued his recovery from injury by firing low past Mark Bunn from a tight angle.

Kalinic headed against the post towards the end of the half but boss Gary Bowyer would have been disappointed with his side at the break.

It was Wolves who continued on top after the break with Nathan Rooney going close on a couple of occasions, until Rochina grabbed the equaliser on 56 minutes with his low strike.

Wolves were reduced to 10 men with a quarter of an hour remaining when Matt Doherty pulled down Kalinic, and Rovers took advantage through the Croatian's late winner.

Herold Goulon was red carded in the dying seconds for kicking out at Nathan Rooney and then slapped the player as he made his way off.
