STEVE Cotterill believed his Burnley side got exactly what they deserved from their match against Wolves - absolutely nothing.

The Clarets lost their unbeaten Championship record with a whimper of a performance at Turf Moor, going down to Mick McCarthy's side courtesy of Jemal Johnson's 19th minute strike.

Cotterill's men fought hard and could have levelled the scores with late chances for Alan Mahon and young Chris McCann.

But it wasn't enough and the Burnley manager conceded Wolves were the better side on the day.

He said: "They were not as good as they've been in other matches. We probably deserved our defeat today.

"I think Wolves came here on the back of a bad result and I thought they were better than us.

"I think with the chances we had at the end we could have still grinded out a result but at the end of the day, it might only be a 1-0 but they definitely deserve their 1-0 win.

"The game will tell you if the chances deserve to fall for you or not. We didn't do enough.

"Sometimes you have to work yourself to get credit in football and good performances will get you good points. It wasn't a good performance so that's why we've ended up with nothing."
