Race Retro, billed as Europe’s premier historic show, gets underway tomorrow and features three East Lancashire drivers and their prized rally cars.
Live action at Stoneleigh Park, near Coventry, is on Saturday and Sunday when around 50 iconic rally cars will be put through their paces on a special stage rally track.
Kevin Furber will be at the wheel of his Peugeot 205 T16 Evo and Tony Worswick will be in the Ferrari 308GT he drove on Blackpool Promenade earlier this month as part of the North West Stages.
Gary Gee will give spectators a sight of his Vauxhall Chevette HSR that is a replica of Tony Pond’s on the 1981 Manx International car.
The car, which has the original Pond engine, has just undergone a rebuild and Gee is anxious to put it through it’s paces.
He said: “Ian Grindrod and I took it to last year’s Manx International to do some pre-rally demonstration runs but unfortunately the head gasket went so this weekend will be it’s first proper test.”
