EDDIE Howe has this afternoon been unveiled as the new manager of Burnley - insisting it was 'a privilege' to have been given the opportunity.

Howe was appointed as the club's new boss yesterday after deciding to leave Bournemouth along with his assistant Jason Tindall.

The 33-year-old was at Turf Moor on Saturday to see the Clarets' 0-0 draw against QPR.

"It feels fantastic for me, it's a real honour and a privilege to be Burnley manager and we're looking forward to the task ahead," said Howe.

"It was just too good an opportunity to turn down.

"It was one Jason and I, and our families, felt was a great challenge and we had to take it.

"You just had to look around the stadium to see the supporters on Saturday and their enthusiasm and desire for the club.

"There's a huge history to the club, the board have been fantastic with us and there's a really talented squad as well.

"I joined Bournemouth when I was 11 and I've done near enough every job there. It was where I was brought up as well so it was a really difficult decision to leave.

"It would only have been to a club I felt was ambitious and ticked all the boxes."

There will be more from this afternoon's press conference in tomorrow's Lancashire Telegraph.
